Job Description

We are a Women's casual wear company, manufacturing both branded and private label clothing in moderate women's markets. We are looking for a candidate with approximately 3 years design experience in a comparable market to work with our design team. This position will report directly to the Design Director while designing for our Women's Woven and Knit Bottoms department as well as some work in our Casual Jackets category. Our office is located in Midtown Manhattan on Fashion Ave. The ideal candidate must have: No less than 3 years experience as an Assistant Designer or higher. We are looking for someone with in-industry experience so this is imperative. If you have experience as a design intern included in that 3 years please detail your work during that time. Extensive knowledge on all Adobe programs (i.e. Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat) Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel. Able to sketch in Illustrator, both flat and on a figure including filling colored and print CADs. Some knowledge in pitching prints and repeats is a plus. Clear communication with overseas factories both in development and in bulk. Able to spec and assemble tech packs on woven and knit bodies using reference samples. Review and approve bulk fabric and trims, with help of the Design Director. Production approvals are a large part of the job as we are ensuring the product bought is to our standards. Market Research experience, shopping for ideas as well as knowledge of fabrics a plus. Organization skills are needed to keep track of all sampling on seasonal Line Plans. Follow up and tracking on all outstanding styles. Organization of all incoming submissions on buys while working with production. Looking for someone who is accustomed to a fast paced environment, able to self motivate and take initiative in various aspects of the job.
