Job Description

Cafe Boulud is hiring Bartenders . Bartenders is a pooled-tip service role that works closely with the management team and all other front-of-house and back-of-house team members. The Bartender is responsible for creating cocktails for the guests, as well as creating the cocktail list, liquor inventory and purchasing. The Bartender should be an expert in spirits, liqueurs and cocktails and should have a strong knowledge of the menu and wine list.

Café Boulud is inspired by Daniel Boulud’s four culinary muses:  la tradition , classic French cuisine;   la saison , seasonal delicacies;   le potager , the vegetable garden; and   le voyage , flavors of world cuisine. Having earned three stars in the New York Times as well as a star in the Michelin Guide, Café Boulud is both a destination and a neighborhood gem for casually elegant dining seasonal wine tasting dinners, Sunday brunch and intimate, private events. 

Essential Duties:

• Greet all guests with enthusiasm and friendliness
• Engage the guests to create positive dining experiences
• Create cocktail list
• Prepare the mise en place for the bar
• Pour all drinks for bar guests and from printed tickets for servers
• Execute on-going side work
• Open and close the bar as needed
• Assist with inventory of all alcohol and beverages as needed
• Maintain the bar clean at all times
• Be knowledgeable of food items and wine list

Competencies & Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a fine dining environment
• Knowledge of and interest in fine cuisine and wines
• Outstanding knowledge of liquors and spirits
• Actively practice food safety procedures 
• Able to take direction and complete tasks
• Organizational skills
• Effective time management
• Pleasant demeanor
• Positive and clear written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Ability to engage guests successfully and build a relationship
• Impeccable grooming as defined by management and dress code
