Building Inspector San Diego

Join Interwest Consulting Group as a Building Inspector. With over 300 employees across public works, building and safety, planning, engineering, and real estate acquisition, Interwest has become a leader in providing municipal services.

Job Overview

We seek experienced, ICC Certified Building Inspectors to join our Building and Safety Group. This role offers daily field inspections, interaction with the public, plan review, record maintenance, and other related duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily field inspections of residential, commercial, and public facility construction projects.
• Interact with the public and explain technical information to both technically and non?technically trained individuals.
• Review residential and commercial plans and engineering calculations for building components to ensure compliance with applicable codes.
• Provide recommendations regarding the interpretation of City, State, Federal, and Construction standards, as well as local ordinances.
• Maintain accurate records to document inspections, test results, and additional details pertaining to inspections.
• Maintain computer logs of inspection reports, entering inspection results into permitting software.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience interpreting codes in the field providing code?compliant solutions.
• Extensive knowledge of local building codes and current construction procedures/technology.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment.
• Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast?paced environment.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Licenses / Certifications

• ICC Residential Inspector Certification required.
• ICC Commercial Inspector Certification preferred.
• CA specific licenses and certifications preferred.
• CASp Certification a plus.
• Valid drivers license with good driving record.

Compensation

Competitive wages, hourly $45.00 $55.00 per hour, plus a strong benefit package.
