Ready to experience an awesome adventure and opportunity for professional growth? The KSA Summer Internship Program is the place for you! This is perfect for a student currently seeking a degree in civil engineering and would like to gain valuable work experience during the summer of their junior or senior year of college. Interns at KSA have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience by working on projects from inception to completion. Our interns collaborate across practice groups, so you will be exposed to projects in both the aviation and municipal service sectors. Along with all of the knowledge you will gain, KSA wants to make sure there is some fun involved as well with project tours, orientation in our corporate office, and an end of summer celebration. This position will be located in our McKinney, Texas office.

What type of projects does an intern at KSA work on ? Well, it is hard to tell – work changes daily at KSA! What we can tell you is that the municipal service group works on projects such as water, wastewater, streets, drainage, downtown development and the aviation service group works on taxiways, runways, lighting systems, and terminal buildings. While this is not an all-encompassing list of project types, you will likely gain experience with several of these during your summer internship!

The internship will include a group project lead by an engineer. This experience provides a thorough overview of the life cycle of a project. You will learn design skills in Civil 3D, plan production, specification writing, and cost estimation.

What does the day in the life of a KSA intern look like? It may be easier to tell you what you won’t do – push paper. We pride ourselves on providing a valuable and thought-provoking experience that will truly give you an insight into the work of a consulting civil engineer. You will have the opportunity to work on bid tabulations, design work in Civil 3D and gain some field knowledge through site visits among other tasks as part of a project team!

How does KSA support you during the internship? KSA works to foster a team atmosphere and to make the internship memorable and fun. Each intern will have a dedicated mentor to help you with any questions as well as instructional support and advice on guiding your career. Many of our interns are offered full-time positions post-graduation.

When does this internship occur? The internship is a 12-week program that will start on May 20th and end on August 9th.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited University.
• Will be a junior or senior level student in the 2024-2025 school year.
• Familiar with MS Office Software and/or other typical communication tools.
