Job Description

Commercial Construction Estimator – New Haven, CT

A well-established and highly respected commercial builder based in the New Haven area is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join their team. This firm is known for delivering high-quality work across a wide variety of sectors including education, healthcare, museums, and institutional projects throughout southern Connecticut.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative and client-focused company with a long-standing reputation for craftsmanship, integrity, and repeat business.

What You’ll Do:

  • Prepare accurate estimates for a diverse range of commercial construction projects, from conceptual budgets to hard bids
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing
  • Work closely with project managers and leadership to ensure a smooth transition from preconstruction to execution
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and help present creative solutions to clients
  • Attend site walks and pre-bid meetings as needed

What We're Looking For:

  • 5+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction (ground-up and renovations)
  • Strong familiarity with commercial project types such as educational, institutional, and healthcare work
  • Proficient with estimating software (such as Sage Estimating, Procore, Bluebeam, or similar)
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills—comfortable working directly with owners, architects, and internal teams
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred, but not required

Why This Role?

  • Join a company with an excellent reputation and deep roots in the Connecticut market
  • Be part of a high-performing team that values quality over volume
  • Opportunity to work on meaningful projects that shape the region’s public and institutional landscape
  • Competitive compensation, strong benefits, and a supportive culture
