About the Role:

The Cook for Our Beginning School will play a vital role in creating nutritious, plant-based, and vegan meals that cater to the dietary needs of children.

This position is essential in promoting healthy eating habits and fostering a positive relationship with food among young learners (children ages infants - 6 years of age). The cook will be responsible for assisting with menu planning, food preparation, and ensuring that all meals meet the highest standards of quality and safety. Ultimately, this role contributes to the overall well-being and development of children by providing them with wholesome meals that support their growth and learning.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in cooking, preferably in a school or childcare setting.
  • Knowledge of plant-based and vegan cooking techniques.
  • Must have knowledge and implement safety and cleanliness of the kitchen environment.
  • Must have dependable attendance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Culinary degree or certification.
  • Experience working with children or in an educational environment.
  • Familiarity with nutrition guidelines for children.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare daily vegan and plant-based meals that meet nutritional guidelines for children.
  • Ensure all food is prepared in a safe and sanitary manner, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with educators to create engaging meal programs that incorporate educational elements about nutrition.
  • Manage inventory and order supplies as needed to maintain a well-stocked kitchen.
  • Monitor and accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies of children, ensuring all meals are inclusive.

The required skills for this position include culinary skills that focus on plant-based and vegan cooking, which will be utilized daily to create nutritious meals.
