The Crime Analyst I (CA) is responsible for establishing and coordinating the more complex operations of the laboratory’s property control system and inventory management. The CA I performs technical and administrative duties for the Bureau of Forensic Services. Duties include: receiving case evidence, reviewing associated case information, and establishing a chain of custody for each submitted evidence item; monitoring the laboratory’s evidence storage areas; and utilizing the Department’s asset management system to track laboratory equipment, supplies, and vehicles.

The Crime Analyst at the Bureau of Forensic Services Sacramento Laboratory is responsible for the exchange of evidence into and out of the laboratory, the proper storage of evidence in the laboratory, and tracking that evidence.
