Job Description

Position: Grade 2 Classroom Aide  

Supervisor: Lower School Division Head 

Position Summary

The Classroom Aide works with the second-grade teachers to support the school's curricular goals and mission. The ideal candidate will bring a history of working with a diverse group of students, a collaborative work style, and a good sense of humor. They will also have some classroom experience and draw upon that understanding to contribute to the CHS community.  

This is a full-time, hourly, exempt position starting immediately and ending on June 11, 2026. 

The responsibilities of  Classroom Aide include:

  • Supporting the lead teacher to facilitate lessons in all subject areas by working with small groups of students as needed 
  • Guide students in their social-emotional development by maintaining expectations and supporting positive, productive student behavior.
  • Respectfully engage with students and demonstrate sensitivity to cultures, values, family configurations, and beliefs.
  • Attend all Special Subject classes and assigned duties (e.g., recess).
  • Attend regular planning, grade-level, and staff meetings, including parent-teacher conferences.
  • Maintain open two-way communication with the lead teacher and be receptive to feedback.
  • Assume responsibility for other tasks as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree
  • 1-3 years of experience working with elementary-aged children
  • Demonstrated experience working in a culturally diverse community
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills, flexibility, and a positive, growth-oriented attitude 
  • Preference for those with experience working with a wide range of learners.
