The position assists the Energy Recovery Administrator with monitoring the operating contractor's performance at the H-POWER (Honolulu Program of Waste Energy Recovery) waste-to-energy plant. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Developing and maintaining the necessary engineering records required to verify quality and quantity of waste processed. Verifying by engineering analysis that performance guarantees regarding capacity, energy and materials recovery, environmental regulations, residue quality and weight reduction are met. Verifying that technical contractual responsibilities are met and takes necessary corrective action with other division sections and private haulers as required. Performing engineering liaison with other divisional and governmental personnel, private interest groups and the general public in coordinating projects. Providing engineering input and participation in the planning of other waste-to-energy projects, such as landfill gas recovery. Special Work Conditions: Daily work requires inspections of industrial site, requires use of such safety equipment on a full time basis as: hard hat, safety glasses, climbing belt, safety shoes, and periodic use of various types of respirators, as well as knowledge on use of emergency chemical showers/eye wash equipment, etc. Apply today!
