Primary Job Duties/Tasks
Translate business requirements into functional design specifications, data configuration changes or initial settings, workflow definitions, and ERP module-relevant security settings. Assist with documentation to address requirements traceability and data mapping of data configuration settings to highlight data lineage. Maintain an accurate record of computing solution data configurations and associated documents.
Prepare specifications to communicate data configuration impact on Department computing assets and address dependencies with other interfacing computer applications. Oversee the development of testing strategies, data scenarios and test plans to validate data configuration settings. Develop and execute test cases.
Advise project management on integrations of ERP software platforms and implication of module changes on other module functionality, master data impacted, and security and development solutions.
Participate in efforts to define the impact on Department computing assets due to business process and data structure changes. Produce written deliverables including, but not limited to business process diagrams and narratives, requirements, specifications and business or technical analyses.
Detail data element inputs and outputs with other systems interfacing with Department computing assets. Inputs can include manual data entry, direct access to other systems, and batch uploads. Outputs can include data extracts, direct access to data from other systems, and reports.
Troubleshoot and resolve computing solution data configuration issues.
Support training needs and assist with the development of job aids and other training materials related to initial data configuration settings and subsequent changes.
Advise project resources on risks, action items, issues, and decisions and contribute to the mitigation of risks and resolution of project issues.
ERP Configuration Specialist:
Key Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Skill in the use of ERP business solutions and configuration of multiple ERP modules, such as Oracle PeopleSoft's financial management software.
Knowledge of ERP financial related modules and interfacing methodologies.
Experience working on accounting and financial computing applications and monitoring complex interfaces with external systems.
Experience assisting users with business process changes and improvement initiatives.
Ability to produce legible and complete functional documentation in a way that thoroughly captures business processes and inputs/outputs of applications.
Ability to analyze and accurately and completely define processes and workflows to design efficient information solutions, including missing or duplicate functionality in existing applications.
Knowledge of relational database theories and concepts.
Skill in data conversion techniques, data cleansing approaches and validating data relationships.
Ability to work effectively with users and a project team, to identify and document requirements for the development or remediation of computer systems, including technical overviews and context diagrams.
Ability to develop and manage information systems documentation in accordance with the Department's standards.
Skill in testing complex applications and interpreting whether requirements and design were met in the product.
Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and prioritize work assignments for him/herself or lower-level analysts.
Ability to work effectively with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Data Analysts, and Technical Architects to build efficient, viable solutions in the remediation of business applications utilizing all established departmental standards.
Ability to prepare test plans.
Ability to interpret and communicate technical information to technical and non-technical users, both verbally and in writing.
Advanced skills with Microsoft products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.
Knowledge of accounting systems and practices.
Knowledge of statewide accounting and financial reporting systems and interfacing approaches for various types of business applications.
Skill in performing QA reviews and provide valuable feedback in determining that standards are met and that documents are complete and comprehensive.
Basic knowledge of Universal Modeling Language (UML) and enterprise tools to document business processes, collect requirements, develop test scripts, and manage traceability.
Knowledge of enterprise data management tools, such as Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC) and Axon.
