Job Description
As an Esports Arena Coach, you will teach and mentor young gamers to help them improve their in-game skills and strategies as well as their social and character skills. Coaches will lead players through our proprietary curriculum, weekly competitions and/or coordinate practice scrimmages with other coaches in the Valhallan Esports League community. You will create an environment that is inclusive, non-toxic, safe, and fun for everyone with an enthusiastic and positive attitude.
Coaching, mentoring, advising
Oversee the day-to-day coaching and player engagement.
Review, understand and teach content from the Valhallan coaching guides daily
Evaluate and determine game-specific knowledge and skill of players.
Report daily and weekly progress of players to supervisor.
Provide consistent feedback to parents regarding their players.
Event facilitation
Facilitate tournaments and other special event operations including birthday parties & camps (additional training provided as needed)
Technical support - Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
Arena Maintenance
Maintain a clean working environment that is aligned with corporate standards.
Periodically maintain and update gaming systems, ensuring they are in peak condition for practice and competition.
Participate in arena event planning
What we’re looking for…
Qualified candidates must:
Be highly knowledgeable in at least one of the following games: Valorant, Fortnite, Apex Legends, Overwatch 2, and/or Rocket League.
Able to discuss gaming concepts specific to the titles listed above in simple, comprehensible terms to non-gamers.
Must enjoy working with kids and have the ability, passion and desire to teach, mentor, and coach players aged 7-17 years old.
Be an effective collaborator.
Be familiar with basic software technology, including Microsoft Suite, social media management, and general office equipment.
Have strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Be self-motivated and self-directed.
Be available for part-time schedule in the evenings during the week, and on weekends for occasional events.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
High knowledge and skills in multiple games
Knowledge and experience in additional games such as Smash, Rainbow Six Siege, Minecraft, FIFA, NBA 2K, others
Prior coaching, teaching, and/or competitive experience
Knowledge of competitive esports, including but not limited general strategies, team building, skill building, and competitive strategies
Knowledge of middle and high school level esports rules and regulations
Video editing for practice and match performance review
Strong organizational skills, especially regarding practice planning and managing the logistics of tournaments
