SEASONAL FORESTRY TECHNICIAN

Location: Paint Lick, Kentucky or Shepherdsville, Kentucky

Amount of Travel: Estimated between 80% - 100% during peak seasons

Copperhead Environmental Consulting is expanding our team and actively seeking a Forestry Technician to join our family of foresters, wildlife and aquatic biologists, planners and environmental scientists.This is a seasonal position driven by current and future projects. We are seeking a candidate who is looking to develop a long-term career in the environmental consulting industry and is open to diversification across the company.

Primary Responsibilities

Implement specific forest management actions to fulfill project objectives such as:

• Mechanical and chemical timber stand improvement (TSI)
• Herbicide applications
• Tree planting
• Forest Inventory
• Direct field operations in the absence of the Lead Forester.
• Operate forestry equipment such as chainsaws, off road vehicles, and large capacity herbicide sprayers safely and effectively.
• Coordinate with Lead Forester and clients as needed.
• Maintain field equipment and vehicles.
• Implement pollinator / wildlife habitat project implementation

Required Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelors degree (or working towards degree) in forestry, wildlife management, or related science is preferred. Previous related work experience may be substituted for education.
• 1+ Years of forest management experience preferred.
• Experience working with or knowledge of natural systems.
• Knowledge of forest and wildlife management techniques preferred
• Ability to identify trees and plants by species is required
• Ability to operate trucks and UTVs in an off-road environment.
• Ability to work in rugged terrain long distances from vehicles.

Preferred Skills and Certifications

• Possess, or have the ability to obtain, a Kentucky Pesticide Applicators License.
