Job Description
Primary Responsibilities: The Grant Writer is responsible for synthesizing industry research and client information into various documents and materials as needed by the client. Work conducted by this position will be toward the development of feasibility studies, business plans, strategic plans and grant applications. Responsibilities include:
- Conduct industry research to verify facts, dates, and statistics
- Prepare, rewrite and copy edit to improve readability.
- Collect and analyze data and research including agricultural industry and client information
- Work directly with clients and in partnership with other personnel to develop and implement project strategies
- Conduct client interactions, either in-person, by phone, or through email
- Prepare or modify business plans, feasibility studies, marketing plans, grant applications, and other documents
- Illustrate data graphically and translating findings into written text
- Organize presentations for client meetings, conferences, and workshops
- Communicate effectively with industry experts and office personnel
- Maintain client confidentiality
Duties require frequent use of independent judgment in order to complete general assignments. Local and regional travel may also be required up to 15% of time.
Additional Duties: - All other duties as assigned by Executive Director
Minimum Educational/ Experience Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience
Minimum Skill Qualifications: - Good oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate effectively to a wide variety of audiences
- Knowledge of grant application process, scoring criteria, and funding cycles
- Previous federal grant application, submission, approval, and management of funds
- Critical thinker, ability to logically solve problems
- Strong organizational skills (prioritize, multi-task, and able to meet strict deadlines)
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively and independently with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications: - Agriculture industry experience
