Salary Range - $45,000 to $47,000

The Cooperative is a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) coalition of healthcare professionals and consumers licensed by the New Jersey Department of Health as the maternal and child health consortium serving the seven counties of South Jersey. The Health Educator supports and contributes to the planning and implementation of the New Jersey Postpartum Resources and Support Network (NJPRSN) by developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with regional health care providers, community, social service and academic organizations. The Health Education Specialist responsibilities include assistance with monitoring the progress of the program, following up with key stakeholders, scheduling meetings, and maintaining program documents and data collection. The Health Educator develops education materials and media on a variety of topics that include postpartum mental health screening, symptoms of postpartum mood disorder, and treatment options, as well as other related topics as needed.

Essential Functions:

Contribute to the Cooperative's commitment to equity and continuous quality improvement that align with the agency’s mission, goals, and advancement. * Effectively cross-collaborate with agency staff, leaders, and board members to foster a comprehensive approach of information sharing, working committees, and collective representation. * Routinely disseminate relevant information, presentations, trainings, and learning opportunities for internal program and agency staff. * When applicable, will participate in relevant staff development opportunities (trainings, summits, conferences, etc.) to increase skill development, elevate program goals, and engage staff members with timely key learnings. * Assists program manager with development of relationships in the community. * Consults with health care providers and other professionals to assess educational needs of both staff, clients and consumers, and develops educational tools to meet needs. * Develops and distributes patient education materials to providers and community organizations related to the grants’ objectives and activities. * Plans, develops and implements ongoing health education and related programs for providers and consumers, in collaboration with other SNJPC and FHI education staff. * Participates in health professional and community meetings and associations throughout the state as appropriate. * Collaborates with local health departments regarding prevention, education and outreach programs for clients. * Assists program manager with providing training to clinical staff in physician offices, community-based facilities, and FQHC related to perinatal mental health, including screening, symptoms, and treatment options, and other grant components as needed. * Assists with management of social media campaigns, newsletter and website content as needed. * Assists with collection, tracking, and follow-up of data to be collected for program evaluation and record keeping. * Assists with tracking of and preparing monthly and annually reports on project progress to Department of Health and other state departments as needed. * Performs administrative tasks and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Education, Public Health, Social Work, Population Health, Health Promotion or a related field.
  • Ability to implement curriculum and conduct training programs.
  • Ability to work well with healthcare and other professionals and consumer populations.
  • Ability to develop and manage social media campaigns and website functions.
  • Strong oral, written, digital and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Knowledge of both urban and rural community resources.
  • Ability to work with local, state, and national advocacy organizations (Postpartum Support International, Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health, etc.) to establish health campaigns and impact community awareness.
  • Ability to develop good rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Bilingual preferred (English and Spanish).
  • Valid driver’s license, car and current insurance policy.

Travels regularly to sites where traffic, weather, and other environmental conditions may be encountered; otherwise works in a climate-controlled professional office environment generally free from hazards and other adverse working conditions.
