Freedom Behavioral is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring the facility operates efficiently by performing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks to uphold safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout the facility, including structural repairs to windows, doors, and walls
• Repair broken or leaking plumbing fixtures to prevent damage and restore full use
• Address electrical wiring issues such as shortages or severed wires
• Maintain HVAC systems to ensure proper climate control within the facility
• Apply preventative measures, such as sealing flat roofs, to reduce future risks
• Repair potential safety hazards to prevent injuries
• Paint interior or exterior areas where paint is faded or chipped
• Perform basic plumbing to resolve leaks, clogs, or drainage problems
• Handle electrical wiring repairs for facility operations
• Conduct basic carpentry repairs as needed
• Provide groundskeeping maintenance for lawns and outdoor areas
• Interact pleasantly with staff and residents
• Maintain attention to detail to ensure all tasks are completed to the highest standards

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for 60-80% of each working shift
• Ability to sit for extended periods (up to 4 hours)
• Walking and standing frequently required to complete tasks
• Ability to lift and carry 10 pounds or more as needed
• Physical stamina to remain active throughout the shift
• Must pass tuberculosis testing upon hire and annually thereafter

Work Environment:

• Exposure to moderate to high noise levels, fumes, cleaning chemicals, dust, mist, and steam
• Smoke-free workplace
• Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues (Category II)
• Stressful environment due to frequent interruptions and servicing psychiatric patients with acute and crisis needs

Position Requirements:

• Education:High School Diploma (minimum)
• Experience:At least 1 year of general maintenance experience in a hospital or business setting, including facility upkeep tasks
• License:None required

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions
• Ability to follow verbal instructions effectively
• Knowledge in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, groundskeeping, and general facility maintenance
