General Cleaner

This position is for a New Albany General Cleaner for full time nights. The Cleaner position provides the cleaning and upkeep of an assigned area. Responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining buildings/facilities, performing heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish; notifying managers concerning the need for minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems; establishing and maintaining effective communication and working relationships with clients, co-workers, shift coordinators, supervisors, managers, etc; complying with all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures established by the Company, Clients, and regulatory authorities; and being flexible and willing to complete all tasks that are assigned. The Cleaner must also clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them, follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures, sometimes using ladders to dust and wash furniture, walls, machines, and equipment; clean ceilings and dust and polish light fixtures, wash and replace blinds, move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas, either manually or by using hand trucks, remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions, mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications, strip, seal, finish, and polish floors, clean and vacuum carpeted areas, including application of spot cleaning treatment, gather and empty trash, wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas, clean and polish furniture and fixtures, service, clean, and supply restrooms, periodically clean overhead vents, dust blinds, and polish wood furniture, clean interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees, spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestation, set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings, keep janitor's closet neat and orderly and maintain equipment in good working order, and requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties. The Cleaner must also monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and possibly checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created, drive vehicles (if required) to perform or travel to cleaning work, including vans, industrial trucks, or industrial vacuum cleaners, and may be expected to make basic repairs. Qualifications include being 18 years of age or older and meeting all requirements to receive approval for working in specific ATS environments (if applicable), including ten-year work history if available.
