Glacier Oil & Gas is looking to hire a Corrosion Technician who will be responsible to support field corrosion investigations and integrity related inspections and repairs. Summary

The Corrosion Technician will serve on the engineering team to support field corrosion investigations and integrity related inspections and repairs. This position is responsible for assisting inspections planning, performing NDT, field examinations, direct field oversight of specialty NDT subcontractors (RT/Eddy Current, etc.) repairs, reporting, and data management.

This position is a flexible, hybrid-based position with Anchorage office and field time in Cook Inlet and on the North Slope. The applicant must permanently live in or around Anchorage, AK and will be expected to work an in-office, 9/80 schedule with time spent out in the field as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and execution of inspection plans at all facilities.

• Calibrate & configure NDE equipment. Maintain stringent quality control in the collection of data.

• Perform UT inspections, pit gauging and direct assessments

• Perform API 570 inspections. 

• Support excavation sites, inspections of buried piping and oversee piping repairs. 

• Support and manage 3rd party RT inspectors

• Develop inspection isometric drawings

• Write detailed, accurate and complete inspection reports.

• Understanding of Pipeline Integrity processes, techniques, and procedures 

Required Qualifications

• Valid ASNT Level 2 Certifications in visual inspection (VT), ultrasonic thickness (UT), and magnetic particle testing (MT)

• Experience with RT and familiarity with more unique NDE methodologies. 

• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word & Excel 

• 5-years minimum experience performing visual and UT inspections within the oil and gas industry

• API 570 Certification

• Ability to remove & install piping insulation and tape wrap.

• Ability to read P&ID’s

• Ability to follow and draft standard piping isometric drawings

• Strong understanding of NDT techniques, applications and limitations

• Ability to prepare and review formal inspection reports

• Strong knowledge of oilfield process equipment

• Working knowledge of basic corrosion codes and standards & basic understanding of damage mechanisms associated with upstream operations

Preferred Qualifications

• AutoCAD experience

• Shear Wave UT experience

• Knowledge of coatings systems

• Additional NDE Level II certifications in line with ASNT TC-1A such as: Radiography (RT), digital radiography (DR), dye penetrant (PT), computed radiography (CR), phased array (PAUT), ultrasonic shear wave (UTSW)

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds

• Sufficient personal mobility to maneuver within a facility to include the ability to gain access to inspection areas on elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells

• Must be able to tolerate working in the cold climate of Alaska’s North Slope for extended periods of time. 

• Must be able to tolerate numerous hours spent stooping, crawling, kneeling, standing and walking.

• Must be comfortable working in cramped or confined spaces. 

• Must wear required protective and safety equipment (cold weather gear, safety glasses, hard hats, etc.)

This position is based in Anchorage, AK and is expected to work a 9/80 schedule with time spent out in the field as needed. 

Pay

This is a salaried position with potential for annual bonuses. Pay is dependent on experience and qualifications.
