Park Maintenance Technician Job ID: 33771 Agency: Game Fish & Parks Location: Hot Springs, SD - Angostura Recreation Area Salary: $18.80-$21.14 Hourly Pay Grade: F Closing Date: 12/01/2025 Job Overview A lead worker responsible for sharing grounds and maintenance activities in a large park district covering multiple recreation areas. Duties include organizing and scheduling staff for daily and weekly work at all facilities, maintaining records of completed work, and using various programs to track maintenance records with a laptop or iPad. Responsibilities Organize and schedule park maintenance staff for daily, weekly, and seasonal assignments. Maintain clear records of work completed and use programs to track facility maintenance records. Provide on‑call emergency repairs for grounds and facilities under inclement weather conditions. Work weekends and oversee work assignments for up to 12 seasonal employees. Coordinate and supervise equipment operation and facility cleaning. Qualifications A good working knowledge of light and heavy‑duty equipment, facility and grounds maintenance. Effective direction of daily work assignments for maintenance staff. Physical ability to work in outdoor park locations throughout the year and combine on‑water and off‑water work. Flexibility and willingness to change work direction with district priorities. Experience with computer, email and various programs for managing records. Ability to work during inclement weather conditions and be available for on‑call emergency repairs. Licenses & Certifications CDL would be highly beneficial but not a requirement. Candidate will be asked to obtain the SD Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources Pesticide & Noxious Weed Applicator License and Public Drinking Water Certification within 1 year of employment. Skill Knowledge Equipment operation and repair & maintenance. Plumbing, basic electrical troubleshooting, janitorial cleaning, carpentry, welding, concrete work. Landscaping, tree planting and grass seeding, tree, shrub and grass identification. Aerial lift operation for tree pruning, chainsaw operation. General facility and grounds maintenance and other district equipment operation and maintenance. Additional Information This position is eligible for Veterans’ Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
