Job Description

1 Resource Group is seeking Plastics Extrusion Operator to join our clients manufacturing team in Houston, TX . The Plastics Extrusion Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating extrusion machinery to produce high-quality plastic products. You will ensure that production runs efficiently and meets specified quality standards. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in plastics manufacturing, with hands-on experience in extrusion processes. Attention to detail and a commitment to safety are essential.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Machine Setup and Operation:
• Set up and adjust extrusion equipment according to production specifications and work orders.
• Monitor the extrusion process to ensure proper operation and product quality.
• Load raw materials into machines and ensure proper material flow.

Quality Control:

• Inspect extruded products for defects, ensuring they meet required dimensions, weight, and surface quality.
• Perform routine quality checks and record results for reporting purposes.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

• Perform routine maintenance on extrusion equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
• Report major equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel or supervisors.

Safety and Compliance:

• Adhere to workplace safety guidelines and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Follow company policies, procedures, and industry regulations.

Record Keeping:

• Maintain accurate production logs and machine maintenance records.
• Track material usage and ensure proper documentation.
• Skills and Qualifications: Technical Skills:
• Experience with extrusion machinery and related tools.
• Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and production schedules.
• Familiarity with measuring tools like calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and move heavy materials (e.g., up to 50 lbs).
• Standing for extended periods and working in a manufacturing environment.

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

Good communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Experience:

• Previous experience in plastics extrusion or manufacturing operations.
• Knowledge of different thermoplastic materials and their properties.
• Basic mechanical or technical training is a plus.

Work Environment:

Typical manufacturing setting with exposure to machinery noise, heat, and moving parts.

Shift work, including nights or weekends, may be required based on production schedules.

Requirements

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in plastics extrusion.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency in setting up and operating extrusion machinery.
• Strong understanding of quality control processes.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and specifications.
