About This Role: This supervisor-level position oversees Commercial and Residential Plumbing inspection activities, ensures code and policy compliance, and supervises the Plumbing Inspection Team. Being an effective team leader is essential to succeeding in this position. Effective communication and people skills combined with problem-solving skills are needed to help our customers achieve their goals. This position is heavily involved in commercial projects, including retail, business, restaurants, medical facilities, data centers, hotels, apartments, and storage/warehouse structures. Other responsibilities include:
- Oversee more complex projects.
- Assist customers with construction projects by offering code and policy information knowledge and determining plumbing compliance.
- Prioritize and assign daily work assignments to staff
- Maintain the department fleet vehicles
- Cross connection devices
- Perform administrative work associated with inspection reports, construction documents, and data entry.
- Review and write yearly evaluation reports
- Perform monthly Quality Control Inspections
- Serve as a member of Department/Division Process Action Teams
- Serve as a member of the Department/Division PM/MDT Team
Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or GED and five years of related experience in plumbing construction.
Preferences: - Commercial Plumbing Experience
- Knowledgeable in Construction Principles and Methods
- Computer and related experience in Microsoft Applications
- Knowledgeable in reading construction drawings, plans and/or specifications
Work Schedule: This position works 37.5 hours weekly, typically 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday - Friday.
There may be times when working outside the normal work is required.
Special Requirements: - Valid Driver's License
- Ability to pass a DMV Records Check
- Completion of a successful pre-employment physical
- Must become certified by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development as a Technical Assistant to the Building Official within 18 months of employment in accordance with the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code. (Commercial Plumbing Inspector/Residential Plumbing Inspector)
- Must become a Residential Combination Inspector within three years
