Our nonprofit client in Westwood is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for a temp-to-hire opportunity. The Senior Accountant will oversee accounts payable (AP) processes and support month-end close, compliance, and financial reporting to help drive the organization's mission.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the full-cycle accounts payable process, including invoice review, coding, approvals, payments, and vendor management
• Review, process, and post journal entries related to AP and other expense items
• Provide non-profit accounting and funding experience; reviews accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and contractual commitments
• Ensure adherence to internal controls, grant requirements, and regulatory compliance
• Reconcile bank and credit card accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
• Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Support budget and audit preparation, working closely with program teams and leadership
• Monitor and track restricted funds, grants, and donor contributions as required
• Drive process improvements to streamline AP and related transactions
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation
• Assist with special projects and other accounting duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or nonprofit accounting certification preferred
• 3+ years of accounting experience, with nonprofit sector experience highly desired
• Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit fund accounting
• Hands-on experience with full-cycle AP and general ledger functions
• Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with ERP accounting systems
• Detail-oriented, analytical, and able to work independently within tight deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to collaborate across teams
