The renowned Inova Alexandria Hospital is seeking a dedicated Surgical Technologist 1 to join the OR team in a full-time, day shift schedule. This Operating Room consists of 11 rooms that provide a wide spectrum of surgical services to include: Breast, Cancer, Colorectal, Cosmetic, general, gynecologic, head and neck joint replacements, melanoma, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, Oral Surgery, Urology. This position is is sign-on and relocation assistance eligible.

Job Responsibilities:
- The Surgical Technologist 1 performs and/or provides scrub assistance during procedures that reflect an awareness of anatomy, necessary principles, skills, supplies, and adequate knowledge base. Can demonstrate knowledge and practice of basic patient care concepts and surgical case preparation skills. Demonstrates the ability to perform the role of the first scrub on all basic surgical cases.
- Assists the circulating nurse in implementing the perioperative plan of care to include patient positioning, confirmation/preparation of the operative site, updating physician preference card, care of operative specimens, and room turnover.
- Identifies factors relative to the patient's age and developmental stage that must be considered during the surgical procedure.
- Assists with pulling cases and checks case carts for completeness, obtain supplies and equipment and determines them to be in good working order before a case begins.
- Prepares the operating room by opening sterile supplies, instruments, and sutures based on the scheduled procedure and surgeon preference card.
Position Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program. If no surgical technologist experience, then must have graduated within the last year preferred
- Recent Hospital experience and/or previous practice experience preferred
- Surgical Technologist registration required - Must be eligible for Surgical Technologist registration via Commonwealth of Virginia at time of hire. Registration must be completed within 6 months of hire.
