Job Details

• Local pay is $30-$32
• Non local pay is $26 an hour plus $120 per day per diem
• Working around 60 to 70 hours a week currently
• Location is in the Tampa shipyard
• We have openings for pipe welders, pipe fitters and shipfitters as well
• Able to start ASAP
• Openings on 1st and 2nd shift
• Full benefits starting on your 1st month (Health, Dental, Vision, 401K and weekly pay)

Key Responsibilities (Shipfitter)

• Blueprint Reading: Interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Fabrication and Assembly: Measure, cut, shape, fabricate, and fit materials; assemble ship parts.
• Welding and Machining: Use welding machines, drills, grinders, and other tools.
• Inspection and Testing: Inspect and test parts for compliance.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety standards.
• Collaboration: Work with team members to ensure efficient operations.
• Documentation: Maintain records of work performed.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Shipfitter or Structural Fitter experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
• Proficiency with welding and machining tools.
• Strong understanding of ship construction and safety standards.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Teamwork and physical stamina.

Shipfitters Practical Test: (MUST BE ABLE TO PASS)

• Welding Test: Complete a 6” vertical single pass fillet weld test.
• Timed Exercise: Two-hour test to prepare a ⅜” plate insert.
• Measurement and Layout: Take precise measurements; no tracing or unmeasurable tools.
• Bevel and Gap: Create a 30&degree; bevel with a ⅛” gap around the insert.

Work Environment:

• Shipyard setting with outdoor exposure.
• Safety equipment provided and required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr.
