ESL Teacher (Grades: K-4) Join the Dallas Independent School District as an ESL Teacher, teaching K‑4 students. Responsibilities Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements and provide written evidence of preparation. Prepare lessons that accommodate differences in student learning styles. Present subject matter in accordance with Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustees, and district policies. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior. Create and implement a student evaluation system within state and district guidelines. Continuously evaluate and record student progress, reporting to parents as required. Teach subject content appropriate for the grade level as prescribed by state law and district adoption. Plan lessons that lead to specified objectives and maintain written plans for substitute teachers. Use a variety of media and methods to motivate students and optimize instructional time. Identify pupil needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning challenges. Provide counseling to students and parents before and after school. Interpret and communicate the educational program to the community through activities such as open houses and PTA meetings. Plan and coordinate the work of aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers when applicable. Cooperate with the principal to develop an evaluation system that conforms to district uniform guidelines. Maintain accurate student records and file all required reports, documents, and information for the school and district. Perform any other tasks and duties as assigned. Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university; valid Texas teacher certificate with required subject and level endorsements. Demonstrated general knowledge of curriculum and instruction. Knowledge of routine tasks, duties, and procedures, with the ability to follow specific instructions with little or no prior experience. Experience presenting subject matter per Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustees, and district policies. Efficient classroom management procedures. Flexibility to adapt to the challenges of a rapidly changing world. Willingness to stay current with the latest professional developments. Work Environment Noise level moderate. Travel throughout the district is required. This is a campus‑based position; remote work is not available.
